Impact case: vägen från forskning och utbildning till samhällsnytta

Fallstudier som beskriver effekter av KTH:s arbete kallas för impact cases. Ett impact case beskriver hur processen har gått till från grunden, de huvudsakliga forsknings- eller utbildningsaktiviteterna fram till slutfasen och den faktiska effekten av aktiviteterna.

Ett starkt impact case förklarar tydligt varför din aktivitet är viktig och lyfter fram belägg för det. Caset innehåller också information om hur dina aktiviteter har fått spridning och betydelsen av denna.

Exempel på impact cases

Defending critical infrastructure against intentional electromagnetic threats

Modern society is critically dependent on interconnected and interdependent infrastructures such as power, mobile communication, water supply, transport, and information technology services. The prevailing critical infrastructure evolved historically by adopting modern semi-conductor technology in its critical functions and its vulnerability to high power electromagnetic (HPEM) interference has changed and is largely unknown. Susceptibility of modern electronics makes the infrastructure vulnerable to HPEM disturbance, which can be created by rogue elements with technical expertise.

The last 12 years of research at UU/KTH has provided the major infrastructure owners in Sweden the knowledge and the methods to evaluate the susceptibility of their systems to intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) and take remedial action.

Creatinga modernEE programme with continuousdevelopment

Electrical Engineering in the twenty-first century spans over a wide area of subjects far beyond its historical roots. The challenge today is to develop a programme which has both breath and deep and maintains the importance for its students, industry and society.

In order to develop the programme to meet the demands of the present, these activities served as a frame work to remake the education: 

  • Mandatory project course during first, second and third year
  • Development through the CDIO-model
  • Adaption to the Bologna model
  • The course “Global impact of Electrical Engineering”


The activities that led to a modern and competitive programme where:

  • 99 percent of the students get a job within the first year and almost 70 percent before graduation
  • The opportunity to serve as a role-model in education for some of the most well-known institutions in the world
  • A strong international reputation which gives a large number of international master students and makes up a diverse international student body
  • A high satisfaction among the students
