China: CUHK-Shenzhen's Summer Lab Research (SLR)

The Summer Lab Research Programme (SLR) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) is an 8-week non-credit programme, running from early June to late July, 2026. Participants will gain valuable research experience at our cutting-edge laboratories under the guidance of our distinguished faculty during the Summer Session with guaranteed on-campus residence.

KTH students are exempt from paying tuition fees to CUHK-Shenzhen. The housing fee for an 8-week on-campus stay is CNY 2000, with a refundable housing deposit of CNY 1000. Students are responsible for other expenses such as travel, insurance, study materials, meals, etc.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students nominated by our exchange partner institutions.

  • Students should meet the specific academic requirements of the labs they intend to apply to. Final admission decisions rest with the labs.

  • For students from an institution where English is not the primary language of instruction, they should provide ONE of the following documents:

  1) a minimum TOEFL score of 530 (paper-based)/ 71 (internet-based) or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent;

  2) an English proficiency letter issued by partner institutions.

Required Application Materials

  • Curriculum vitae

  • Latest official transcript in English

  • Scanned copy of passport bio page (valid for at least 6 months)

  • Scanned copy of ID Card (only for Chinese citizens)

  • 1*1.5 inches photo (full face with a white background; taken within the last 6 months; accepted format: jpg, png, bmp, jpeg)

  • Proof of English proficiency (for students from non-English taught institutions)

Extend Summer Experience

Participants may combine the SLR Programme with the Fall/Spring term regular exchange programmes.
