Stockholm PhD Student Dialogue on Sustainability – 17th of October 8.30-12.30
A PhD student dialogue on sustainability will be arranged at KTH with students from KTH and other universities in the region. It will be an occasion for PhD students to discuss different topics within the theme: urban and regional sustainable development. The dialogue will offer possibilities to discuss sustainability from different research perspectives and to open up for research collaboration. Read more and register .
KTH-Sustainability Day 2013 - 17 oktober 13.15-17.00 med avslutande mingel
KTH-Sustainabilitys hållbarhetsdag riktar sig i år till forskare vid KTH och externa gäster från näringslivet, myndigheter, organisationer och beslutsfattare. Nya spännande innovationer som kan bidra till lösningar på några av våra stora framtidsutmaningar kommer att presenteras och hållbar utveckling kommer att diskuteras ur en rad olika perspektiv. Exempel på teman för dagen är: Innovationer och entreprenörskap för ett hållbart samhälle, begränsade resurser – nya innovationer, samhällsutveckling – teknikens möjligheter och begränsningar. New department: Sustainable development, Environmental science and Engineering
ABE-school has a new department from July 1, 2013; Sustainable development, Environmental science and Engineering (Institutionen för Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik). The department has three divisions; Land and water resources, Environmental Strategies Research (fms) and Industrial Ecology. Dean Stellan Lundström leads the department until Anna Ledin (now Secretary General at Formas) is to enter in the fall.
New book: Sustainable Stockholm
Using the case of Stockholm as the pivot of discussions, this book investigates the core issues of sustainable urban environmental development and planning. The book shows how intersecting fields such as urban planning and architecture, traffic planning, land-use regulation, building, waste management, regional development, water management, infrastructure engineering—together and in combination—have contributed to making Stockholm Europe’s "greenest" city. Edited by Jonathan Metzger (assistant professor) and Amy Rader Olsson (researcher), both at the Division of Urban and Regional Studies at ABE-school, KTH.
LCA course for professionals
KTH offers a course on (now with correct link), which has both KTH students, PhD students and professionals (yrkesverksamma) as target group. The course starts in November.
Tips! Extrakt – ny tidning från Formas
Extrakt är en ny populärvetenskaplig webbtidning från forskningsrådet Formas. Extrakt vill skapa en bro mellan forskningen och samhället, så att ny kunskap når ut och används. Målet är att synliggöra den forskning och de utmaningar som finns samt väcka intresse och engagemang för frågorna.
Strategic Innovation Agenda on Smart Sustainable Cities
Before summer we wrote about the KTH Energy platform and CESC initiative on Smart Sustainable Cities. Vinnova has now approved the initiative as a Strategic Innovation Agenda, which should be developed by next summer. Congratulations!
