Workshop on Science Communication for Early Career Researchers in Energy, Sustainability and Climate
Are you an early career researcher working on energy, sustainability or climate related topics? Do you want to communicate complex science clearly and engagingly? If so, this workshop is for you. Led by Elina Charatsidou, science communicator and equity advocate, it will blend stories, case studies, and interactive discussions to help you share your research with impact and connect with broader audiences.
Time: Thu 2026-02-19 09.00 - 12.00
Location: TBC
Language: English
Effective science communication is becoming increasingly vital for energy, sustainability and climate related research. While scientific advances play a key role in shaping our transitions to more sustainable societies, these developments often remain disconnected from public perception. Bridging this gap requires researchers to share their work in accessible, engaging, and transparent ways, whether through outreach, media, or dialogue with stakeholders.
This workshop will explore strategies for communicating complex scientific topics to a broad audience, using examples from the nuclear field to highlight both challenges and opportunities. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own disciplines and share experiences, while also engaging in interactive discussions about methods that foster trust, understanding, and interest in science.
By combining personal stories, practical tools, and real-world case studies, the workshop will provide early career researchers with hands-on insights into how they can effectively communicate their science, inspire the next generation, and contribute to more informed public conversations about energy, climate and sustainability related research.
The workshop is primarily aimed at early career researchers working on energy, climate and sustainability related topics. Others can join subject to availability.
