What is the project about?

The project is owned and operated by Svenska kraftnät and is part of a major infrastructure investment to strengthen the electricity grid in the Stockholm region.

The ventilation shaft is needed for the operation, maintenance and ventilation of the high-voltage cables that will eventually be laid in the tunnel that is being built between Danderyd and Hammarby Sjöstad. The tunnel drilling that led to the work on the ventilation shaft passed KTH Campus before the turn of the year 2023/2024.

The establishment of the ventilation shaft between IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute  and Sophiahemmet is starting 29 April. The work starts with fencing off the area.

Underground, blasting of a connecting tunnel between the main tunnel and the future ventilation shaft is taking place.

Noise from blasting, working hours, and blasting warning

  • Noise from blasting down in the tunnel gives a muffled crackling sound.
  • The blasting takes place at fixed times. Blasting can occur on weekdays from Monday to Friday at 10:00, 14:00, 16:00 and at 21:00. Blasting also takes place throughout the day on weekends, Saturday to Sunday at 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00.
  • Work generating noise levels on the surface of the ventilation shaft over the limits of the projects environmental verdict, is weekdays at 07:00-19:00. Work under these limits may be carried out at other times.

  • It is possible to receive a blasting warning 30 minutes before blasting takes place by phone, SMS or email by registering at: ncvib.com/spranginformation
  • The works for the above and below ventilation shaft are planned to take around two years.
