SciLifeLab Data Centre

SciLifeLab is one of Sweden's largest research initiatives, with approximately 2,500 researchers spread across about 300 research groups. SciLifeLab operates at all of Sweden's major universities with the goal of making Sweden a world leader in life science.

The Data Centre's mission is to facilitate world-class research and improve research quality by offering significant IT services. The Data Centre contributes to open science and the reuse of research results, and participates at the highest international level in technology development and the shaping of best practices and standards for data-driven life science research.

Job Responsibilities

As a Systems Specialist, your role is to drive the technical coordination of SciLifeLab's IT infrastructure. This includes planning and implementing investments and working with the long-term management of IT infrastructure. You will be located at the SciLifeLab Data Centre, report to the Head of IT Systems and Infrastructure, and work in close collaboration with other KTH IT departments. While technical expertise is important, the key skill is the ability to collaborate with other skilled systems specialists from many different organizations. Your role also involves providing technical expertise to research groups and platform units within SciLifeLab and acting as a bridge between them and the IT functions.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A university degree at the master's level in computer science or an equivalent education, such as a Master of Science in Engineering.

  • A minimum of 10 years of documented experience working in IT as a developer, systems specialist, architect, or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of container technology, such as Kubernetes and Docker.

  • Strong development skills with knowledge of multiple languages.

  • Good command of English, as it is required in daily work.

You have the ability to perform your tasks independently and are motivated by close collaboration with colleagues and managers at KTH.
