Job description

The advertised post-doctoral position is within an ambitious, 5-year Wallenberg Scholar project titled "Scalable and adaptive inferencing for democratizing AI". In this 18 Million SEK project, we want to dramatically reduce the cost and power for serving large language models such as ChatGPT. The work will primarily entail design, implementation, and evaluation of distributed systems and networks for machine learning inference. Applying machine learning concepts, with the goal of devising agentic frameworks, will also be a part of the project.

As a member of the research lab, you will be involved in experimental systems work in collaboration with faculty members and several doctoral students at our research lab. You will contribute to scientific publications as well as to new grant applications.

The work will be in collaboration with Professor Dejan Kostic and Associate Professor Marco Chiesa.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • You should also have a solid background in distributed systems, networking, programming and operating systems, and very good knowledge of English in speech and writing as it is required in day to day work.
  • It is important that you have very good skills in critical thinking and very good knowledge of C++, Python, Linux, and some scripting language.
  • We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a willingness to experiment and explore, with international publications in journals and top conferences.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Teaching abilities and awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.
  • You are a good collaborator but can also work independently.
  • Experience with machine learning, GPU programming, or large-scale inference systems.

About the employment
