Problems now solved after Dardel update
Dardel was switched to a new software stack (called Raspberry) on Wednesday the 31st of January 2024. PDC also updated the Lustre server software during the week starting on the 19th of February. The new software stack had two bugs in the Lustre disk system. These bugs are now resolved, and the Dardel system should work better.
During the work to mitigate the Lustre problems, PDC found that the VASP application used I/O in a way that caused an unnecessary load on the file system. The fix for the VASP application was relatively straightforward and is now implemented in most versions of VASP that PDC provides. Please read the section below for information on how to use the updated VASP applications. If you compile your own VASP version, you can contact PDC Support ( support@pdc.kth.se ) to get the patch.
To use the updated VASP applications
PDC has updated most of the provided VASP applications so they do I/O in a better way. Such software is located in the module PDC/23.03 and can be used by running the following commands:
ml PDC/23.03 #Load the PDC/23.03 module module av vasp #List all (updated) VASP modules in PDC/23.03 ml vasp/6.3.2-vanilla #Load one of the VASP modules
