As part of our NAVET for Students initiative, we are happy to host Christine Nordqvist (KTH) and Dario Samardzic (SKH) workshop 'Green Spaces: Enhancing Wellbeing and Sustainability through Biophilic Design' exclusively as part of Stockholm Design Week 2025!

This performance lecture is part of Stockholm Design Week 2025

"Green Spaces: Enhancing Wellbeing and Sustainability through Biophilic Design"  is a performance lecture exploring the concept of biophilia, grounded in the theory that humans have a biological need to connect with nature, rooted in our evolutionary history, as described by biologist Edward O. Wilson. The event focuses on how biophilic design principles can be integrated into different kinds of living environments to enhance wellbeing and sustainability.

During this lecture we will travel from the big topics of biophilic design to the smaller more intricate and sensory details of the theory, to explore how we interact with the built environment and nature. Spanning the psychological, physiological, and environmental aspects, this event will present research highlighting the positive physiological effects of biophilic design, such as improved productivity, enhanced mood, and reduced illness. We will demonstrate how natural building materials contribute to improved indoor environmental quality and present both the positive and negative environmental aspects of incorporating biophilia at different scales. This will give you as a participant insights into the value of implementing biophilic principles in your design.

We invite students, professionals, individuals interested in architecture, design, theatre, environmental sustainability, or those curious about the human-nature connection to this experience. Through this immersive and multi-sensory format, you will gain insights into innovative approaches to design that prioritize human health and environmental sustainability.

Light snacks and beverage are served.
