Enginzyme
Enginzyme is a forward-looking company seeking to tackle climate change through the innovative use of enzymes to help the chemical industry transition to sustainable greener, cleaner, manufacturing. The company has been collaborating with KTH in performing computational protein simulations since 2020. KTH and PDC support Enginzyme in their goals to contribute to this positive evolution of the chemical industry by providing high-performance computing and data storage resources as well as expert assistance.
The global multi-trillion dollar chemical industry faces a reckoning: chemical production is expected to quadruple by 2050 to meet the ever-increasing demands from manufacturers and consumers, but the industry as a whole must cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than half to meet sustainability goals in that period. As well as accelerating the chemical industry’s transition to sustainability, Enginzyme is developing novel chemical products (which would be produced using enzymes) to improve sustainability across a broad range of other industries.
Enginzyme’s patented immobilisation technology makes efficient biomanufacturing possible without having to use living organisms and instead using familiar tools and techniques to validate enzyme cascades and enable them for commercial implementation. Enginzyme has created a full-service technology platform that serves customers globally. One of their four R&D teams is focused on enzyme engineering where Enginzyme provides advanced engineering solutions in the field and performs calculations on PDC’s supercomputing system.
