Swedish for advanced beginners (spring 2026)
This course is open for fee-paying Master’s students and scholarship holders who have finished the course Introduction to the Swedish society, language and culture. It is free of charge and does not give academic credits.You will improve your practical language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) and expand your grammar and vocabulary. Upon completing the course, you will have reached the level A2 according to CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Schedule
The classes - 13 in total in periods 3 and 4 - will be held in groups of maximum 30 students. The classes start week 3 and end week 18)
Group A: Mondays 15:00-17:00 (NOTE! first meeting exceptionally on Tuesday January 13, 13:00-15:00 in M36, thereafter every Monday)
Group B: Wednesdays 15:00-17:00 (first meeting January 14 in M311)
Workload
Besides the scheduled two hours a week, the workload can be up to 7 hours a week depending on your initial level of Swedish. Please be aware that attending the classes only without continuously doing the individual work will make you fall behind very quickly. We recommend you to sign up for the course only if you have a serious committment to learning Swedish in a systematic way and investing time in it.
In the end of the course, there will be a final test. Passing the test makes you eligble for the third course, Professional Swedish.
Prerequisites
You must have passed final test from Introductory course: Swedish language and culture or a similar basic Swedish course (CEFR A1). Students who have not taken the introductory course and passed the test must take our placement test before applying for this course.

Please note that the number of participants is limited to 60. Only register if you are sure that you have the time corresponding to roughly 5-10 hours of study a week for this course. The first eligible applicants will be accepted (first come first served).
