Chapter 25 Matrix hybridity: the complex realities of strategic councils

Their chapter explores university governance transformation via strategic councils, delving into their impact on traditional management structures and university adaptability. Based on interviews from three Swedish universities, the study analyzes how varying interests interact and the implications for managing conflicting demands. Using a dual-layer framework, it contrasts interviewees' perspectives with a trustee-delegate spectrum, viewing strategic councils through resource dependence theory and organisational hypocrisy.
