Decision on the strategic research initiative KTH Climate-related research

Published Jun 04, 2025

The Vice President for Research has decided that the strategic research initiative KTH Climate-related research will be funded with 1 million kronor in central funds during 2025. Mattias Höjer will be the responsible research leader for the initiative.

By June 10, 2026, the initiative must report back for dialogue about continued funding.

The strategic research initiatives are evaluated according to the criteria:

  • Project application – One or more project applications.
  • Concentration of efforts - Which PIs are included in the project application/applications?
  • Preparatory work ahead of calls.
  • Examples of new research collaborations.

The Research Board will also weigh in the need for central funding, budget scope and strategic relevance in its assessment. The strategic research initiatives are intended to be active for three to five years and generate significant external contributions to KTH of at least 100 million kronor in total.
