Learn how to communicate science

Engineering communication offers courses mainly in engineering writing, rhetoric, and research communication. In addition to courses for students and doctoral students, we provide workshops and lectures as part of KTH's various programmes and activities. As a teacher at KTH or professional visitor, you can also request customised communication packages and lectures tailored to your specific needs.

Our purpose and missions

The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, is essential for both engineering students and professional engineers. Our teaching in engineering communication is research-based, grounded in linguistics, rhetoric, and communication studies.

In addition to our own activities within the KTH Language and Communication , we also work at the Centre for Academic Writing and Rhetoric at the KTH Library.

Education

The subject area offers its own courses in rhetoric, research communication, and engineering writing. Here, you can learn more about the courses we offer and how they can enhance your communicative abilities, both in writing and in speech. In addition to our own courses, we also undertake commissions from teachers and programme directors.

Customized commissions

Presentation skills, report writing, and project and group communication are among the more than 80 commissioned activities the division undertakes within KTH’s various courses and programmes. Below, teachers, programme directors or course coordinators can learn more about how we can support your students in strengthening their communicative competence. We also offer tailored training for professionals.

Development project

The subject area conducts practice-oriented research and doctoral studies in rhetoric and in engineering students’ writing. Here , you can learn more about our projects and publications.
