The solar wind continuously interacts with the Earth’s magnetosphere-ionosphere system.

This interaction (and in large part due to magnetic reconnection) drives plasma convection on the polar regions of the Earth.

In this seminar, we will discuss the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere system, the drivers of ionospheric convection, the resulting convection patters and its effect on the ionospheric plasma.
