Workshop ahead of Summer Camps 2027
Do you want to inspire the next generation of researchers and engineers? During the anniversary year, KTH is organising Summer Camps for pupils in years 5–9. The aim is to spark, strengthen and develop interest in STEM subjects by opening up our research environments. Join us and contribute to the future!
Time: Tue 2026-11-24 16.00 - 17.30
Location: Arenan, Teknikringen 1
Note: New date and venue!
In 2027, KTH celebrates its 200th anniversary, a milestone that will be marked with activities and events highlighting KTH's history, contribution to society and future significance. As part of the anniversary celebrations, we want to give young people the chance to discover the joy of science, technology and mathematics.
Together with Vetenskapens Hus, which is run jointly by KTH, Stockholm University and the City of Stockholm, KTH plans to hold Summer Camps for pupils in years 5–9 during summer 2027. The aim is to spark, strengthen and develop interest in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), which are at the core of KTH's education and research.
During the camps, the pupils will take part in Vetenskapens Hus' regular summer courses in the mornings. After lunch, they will come to KTH Campus to meet researchers and experience real research. The vision is for the pupils to carry out experiments and activities in authentic laboratory environments, preferably within the same subject areas they worked on in the morning. This could be anything from simple, hands-on experiments to creative problem solving and exciting demonstrations that show how research helps solve real societal challenges.
We are looking for researchers who want to take part
Would you like to open your research environment to a group of curious pupils?
We are looking for researchers who, during one (or more!) of the following weeks, can host a group of up to 12 pupils for about 2.5 hours, including a short snack break:
- 23 June 2027
- 28 June–2 July 2027
- 9–13 August 2027
Curious about the initiative and want to know more about how you can contribute?
Join our workshop. Register here!
New collaboration with Tom Tits
At the workshop, we will also present the new collaboration with Tom Tits Experiment, through which we aim to create even more opportunities for children and young people to discover and develop their interest in STEM subjects, both during the anniversary year 2027 and beyond. There are many ways to get involved, for example by contributing to exhibitions, developing creative learning environments or taking part in activities that make research and technology more accessible to young people. An inspiration day will take place on site in mid-December – keep an eye out for the date.
