"The role as deputy director for the Transport Platform represents a new exciting challenge for me. As a faculty member I focus on my own research and teaching, and as Head of Division I deal mostly with internal development issues. This new role is an opportunity to broaden the perspective and work to connect different parts of KTH to each other and with society and industry," says Erik Jenelius , Associate Professor in Public Transport Systems and Head of the Division of Transport Planning, within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, ABE School.

What do you look forward to in working with the platform?

"I look forward to working with Magnus Burman and others to further strengthen the platform as a go-to interface for communication and collaboration between the transport research at KTH and the wider society. I hope to be able to contribute to new and better ways of disseminating research findings, and bringing in relevant research challenges and questions."

What are the major challenges within the transport area?

"The need to drastically reduce climate impacts is the dominating challenge in the transport area for the foreseeable future. This is closely coupled with other challenges such as biodiversity loss and energy supply."

What can the Transport Platform offer KTH researchers?

"The Transport Platform can help researchers at KTH to find potential collaboration partners in other parts of the organisation tree, to receive information about relevant calls, and to find connections to stakeholders in agencies, industry and other organizations. Ultimately, the platform can assist in creating a large enough critical mass of researchers and ideas to effectively tackle the large challenges that face the transport area."
