Insignia: Diploma, Doctor's hat, Doctor's ring
At KTH, hats and doctoral rings are not worn during the ceremony, but of course everyone is free to acquire them. During the ceremony, all doctors conferred will receive a diploma. At KTH a Doctor's hat and ditto ring are not compulsory elements of the conferment ceremony. Everyone is, however, free to acquire such regalia individually.
The Diploma is the written proof of the dignity and is awarded during the ceremony to all doctors.
The doctoral hat is a symbol of academic freedom. Since KTH does not confer doctorates in hats, we do not have a hat hire service. If you want to order a doctoral hat, you must expect a certain delivery time. Order your doctoral hat from our hat supplier Franzéns Hattmakeri. All doctoral hats are made by hand and are traditional handwork from start to finish! Go to hattmakarna.se to place your order for a doctoral hat and take the opportunity to read more about the hatmaking profession and the history of the doctoral hat. There you will also find more information about the deadline for ordering.
Doctor's rings are ordered at Sandbergs, address: Nybrogatan 9, Stockholm phone: 08 679 90 20. You can read more here. If you have any questions regarding the ring you are welcome to send an e-mail to stockholm(at)sandbergsweden.com

The new doctors can invite a supervisor. When they register, they indicate whether they wish to invite a supervisor, if they wish, they enter the supervisor's name and email address. An invitation is then sent out to the chosen supervisor. As a supervisor, you can receive several invitations if you have supervised several doctors. You only need to make one registrationi.
