Election Regarding Three Members of the University Board Appointed by the Teaching Staff
The term of office for the current three members appointed by teachers and researchers expires on 30 April 2026. New teachers’ representatives are to be elected for the period 1 May 2026–31 April 2029 through an election. The election is conducted electronically during the period 2–8 May 2026. Information about the election will be publicized within KTH on the intranet and will also be sent by e-mail to those with voting rights.
Nomination of Candidates
All employees, students and affiliates of KTH will have the opportunity to nominate candidates as teachers’ representatives during the period 17 November–28 November 2025 via an Internet-based nomination form. Nominees shall have accepted the nomination.
Eligible Candidates
Those eligible for election are teachers with an appointment as professor (but not adjunct professor or visiting professor) or associate professor with a scope of at least 50 per cent of full-time.
Anyone who is elected as a member of the Board may not simultaneously hold a position or assignment in KTH's management, the Faculty Council, the school's management or the school’s Faculty Board.
Only those candidates who are proposed by the Election Committee or are nominated during the nomination period and have accepted the nomination, are eligible.
Election Committee
The Faculty Council has selected an Election Committee: professor Hjalmar Brismar (chair), professor Anna Finne Wistrand, associate professor Anders Rosén and professor Meike Schalk.
Voting Rights
The following employees are included in the voters list:

indefinite appointment as professor, associate professor, lecturer or researcher who work at least 50 per cent of full-time.
- appointment as assistant professor who work at least 50 per cent of full-time.
- fixed-term appointment of at least two years as teacher on the basis of artistic merits who work at least 40 per cent of full-time.
The voters list for KTH will be established by the President during February 2026, after review of each school.
Presentation of Candidates
The Election Committee’s proposal and other valid nominations received will be publicized no later than 10 February 2026 on the KTH intranet. Information will also be sent out by e-mail to those with voting rights, no later than 23 February 2026.
Equality Between Women and Men
According to the Higher Education Act chapter 1 section 5 equality between women and men shall always be taken into account and promoted in the operations of higher education institutions.
The Election
On 2 March 2026, eligible voters will receive an email containing a link to vote in the election, information about how the election will be conducted, and a list of nominated candidates to choose from.
Voting is done electronically by ticking any number of names or casting a blank vote. A valid vote must include at least one name.
Voting will be possible during the period 2–8 March 2026. It is only possible to vote for the persons who have been nominated. Each name on the electronic ballot has equal value, regardless of position.
Election Results
The three candidates who receive the most votes are appointed as members of the University Board. The President confirms the election results.
The decision must state whether the election result gave an equal number of votes and how it has then been handled.
The President’s decision on determining the election results must be posted on KTH's intranet for three weeks.
The election cannot be declared invalid due to low turnout.
