• Mentorship Session #1 - Advice on career, thesis and research for climate action

  You as a KTH student are welcome to this drop-in mentorship session where Francesco Fuso-Nerini will give advice on career, thesis or research within climate action and sustainability. Advice will also be given on his specific research fields, mainly within energy systems and SDGs.

  The KTH students Siddharth and Jithin develop an assessment tool for energy practitioners. As part of their education, they traveled to Paris for a collaboration with the French energy company ENGIE.

• Climate Politics in Action #5 Journalism, Climate and reporting on crises with Erika Bjerström

  On Wednesday March 15 Erika Bjerström, global climate correspondent at SVT, visited the Climate Action House for the fifth Climate Politics in Action event. Many different topics were discussed during the dialogue, led by student employee Samantha Arpas, and KTH students were free to join the discussion.

  In the digital media landscape of today, journalism is changing. How does this affect the reporting of climate change? What should current climate journalism look like? How can the rise of misinformation and polarisation be reduced? Students are welcome to a seminar with Swedish National Television's Global Climate Correspondent Erika Bjerström.

  Wednesday 7th September Katarina Luhr (MP), vice-mayor for Climate and Environment in the municipality of Stockholm, came to the Climate Action house for the third Climate Politics in Action event. Many different topics were discussed during the dialogue, led by student employee Oscar Stenström and KTH students could freely join the discussion.

  In belated honor of World Water Day, KTH Climate Action Centre invites everyone to partake in our event together with Right livelihood and WaterCentre@KTH! The event will be available both online and live at the Climate Action house, featuring talks from Maude Barlow and Zahra Kalantari on how access to water can be secured for all.

  Want to learn more about artificial glaciers, blue economy and the production of marine biomass? KTH Climate Action Centre invites everyone to partake in our event together with Right livelihood! The event will be available both online and live at the Climate Action house, featuring talks from Rizgin Gurmet and Jean-Baptiste Thomas on the effects of climate change and water issues on agriculture.

• Student project initiates collaboration with UNOPS

  In the first collaboration between KTH Climate Action Centre and UNOPS, students from the centre are developing a climate action module for UNOPS' sustainABLE tool. The module will help engineers, managers and operators align projects with the Sustainable Development Goals.

• Lunch session with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative

  Come have lunch with us on 25 April, and meet the Exponential Roadmap initative's CEO and Head of Climate Performance, as well as researchers from KTH Climate Action Centre. The initiative is KTH-based and has the goal to unite innovators, transformers and disruptors to halve all emissions by 2030 through exponential climate action and solutions.

  The Embassy of Italy in Sweden will celebrate the 6th edition of the Italian Research Day in the World, organizing, together with the Climate Action Centre of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Italian Cultural Institute, an event hosting Chiara Montanari in Stockholm.

• Climate Politics in Action #7 with Marcus Lindeberg Goñi

  Students are welcome to join us for "Climate Politics in Action #7" with Marcus Lindeberg Goñi, a Research Associate at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). He currently works with quantifying climate transition costs and benefits for cities in the Viable Cities Finance project.

• KTH Climate Action Centre at Forskarfredag 2023

  Every year, Forskarfredag (Researcher's Friday) takes place, a fair where students from 9th grade and high school get the opportunity meet researchers, and learn about their research projects. This year KTH Climate Action Centre was present to discuss the climate and the Climate Qs project.

• Researchers and high school students discussed the Global Goals during Stockholm Summit 2022

  Francesco Fuso-Nerini, director at KTH Climate Action Centre, recently participated in an interdisciplinary event focused on the Global Goals (SDGs). The event took place during Stockholm Summit 2022 and brought together high school students and scholars from different universities to discuss climate and sustainability agendas.

  Swedish climate policy was the topic for the second event in the series “Climate Politics in Action”. Students had the opportunity to ask questions to the Center Party's climate and energy policy spokesperson, Rickard Nordin.

• COP27 hub on Campus

  During the UN's annual climate conference COP27 on November 8–17, KTH Climate Action Centre hosts a hub in Stockholm together with the organisation We Don't Have Time. A series of seminars and activities will be arranged in the hub, involving industry, researchers, students, and the public.

  The Swedish Climate Policy Council reviews how the national politics meet the Climate Goals. How is Sweden performing when it comes to reaching climate neutrality by 2045? What policy areas need to improve? What are the biggest challenges? Students are welcome to a seminar with the Chair of the Council Cecilia Hermansson, who is also a KTH researcher.

• Student Competition for a Climate Neutral Stockholm

  KTH Climate Action Centre, the Bolin Centre at Stockholm University and the Centre for Health Crises and the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health at Karolinska Institutet is organising this student competition to create a greener, healthier and more climate-resilient Stockholm.

• Brown Bag Seminar with Carlos Eduardo Velasquez on Land-Use Change and CO2 Mitigation in Brazil

  Carlos Eduardo Velasquez works at the nuclear engineering department at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and is a guest professor at KTH Climate Action Centre. In this seminar, he will talk about land-use change in Brazil and its consequences, as well as potential solutions. He will hold a presentation of his work, which will be followed by a discussion. Everybody brings their own lunch.

  Many students, both at KTH and in high school, are strongly engaged in the climate. This is something we want to encourage with our projects and activities. Everyone is welcome to contribute to sustainable development and society's climate transition.

• Arctic Seminar series: Vattenfall and the electricity production in the north

  Welcome to the third installation of our Arctic Seminar series in collaboration with Environmental Humanities Laboratory! We will hear from Mikael Nordlander at Vattenfall who will talk about Vattenfall and their role in the electricity production expansion in the north, its implications and what is done for it to be a sustainable transition.

• New scholarship for thesis projects with environmental focus

  Urban flooding, forest wildfires and soil contamination are just some of the degree project subjects chosen to receive a 50 000 SEK scholarship from Sveriges Ingenjörer. The group of twelve students were selected in hard competition, for projects that are particularly interesting from an environmental perspective.
