New course: Generative AI for teaching and learning in higher education

As generative artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly relevant to how we can carry out higher (engineering) education, a new course will launch in spring 2026. The course aims to prepare you as a teacher, to critically evaluate and responsibly apply AI tools within your own educational context.

The course is designed to demystify generative AI and help you as a teacher regain a sense of control in an increasingly complex digital landscape. Course participants will gain a foundational understanding of how GenAI works and explore practical ways it can be integrated to enhance teaching practices, student learning, and the overall course experience.

Focus on the thoughtful use of AI

A key focus of the course is the thoughtful use of AI in education. Explicit attention will be given to the educational, legal, and ethical dimensions of AI use, enabling teachers to make informed decisions about when and how to incorporate these tools into their courses. Participants will also learn how to evaluate the impact of AI on their own teaching contexts. 

By the end of the course, teachers will be better prepared to navigate an uncertain future shaped by rapid technological change. Rather than relying solely on institutional rules or mandates, participants will develop the skills needed to confidently experiment with and assess emerging AI innovations. 

Schedule for the course round in Spring 2026

The course will be taught in English and will include several in-person meetings held in room M312  during spring 2026. Scheduled sessions are:

  • 29 April, 10:00–12:00 

  • 6 May, 10:00–12:00

  • 20 May, 10:00–12:00

  • 27 May, 13:00–15:00
