The role of English in STEM
There is no official language for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). However, English has become the most common language used by students and employees around the world in STEM, business, and academia when collaborating with speakers of other languages.
Develop the academic voice
The lecturers at the Division of Language and Communication work with students and researchers across the university to help them develop their academic language and literacy skills. They help students develop competence and confidence in writing reports and presenting work. They work with researchers to support them in all aspects of knowledge communication, such as writing scientific articles and speaking at conferences. They are also able to help students navigate AI writing technologies so that they can develop critical, ethical practices in this area.
In short, students and researchers can find and develop their academic voice – and adapt their communication to diverse audiences within and beyond the university.
