The BOAUT project is part of the Assuring Autonomy International Programme (AAIP), University of York, UK. This research is a collaboration within the ITM-school between the unit for mechatronics and management of technology which both has common interest in system safety in combined cyber physical and sociotechnical systems.

Funded by: Lloyd’s register, University of York

Background:

The project will explore and validate how the global situational awareness of an onshore operator can be used to detect and diagnose erroneous, hazardous deviations of autonomous vessels in time for mitigating action.

BOAUT will strengthen the scientific basis of the project, and define detailed scenarios of interest. Partners will build and elicit data for a demonstrator that will be used in tests of scenarios on relevant operators. The objective is to define a safety case based on outcomes.
