Employment of hourly-payed employees (arvodist)

A salary is paid to individuals who work on an hourly basis for shorter assignments, up to a maximum of 3 weeks, within KTH. Examples of assignments that fee earners may have are exam invigilators or external guest lecturers. The person who has the possibility to hire hourly-payed employees is a manager who has the delegation to employ.

Contact HR when hiring hourly-payed employees

When hourly-payed employee is to be hired for an assignment, HR (via arvodister@abe.kth.se ) should be contacted for guidance before the work is promised and an agreement is made with the fee earner. The manager involves the HR officer for administrative support.

Employment confirmation and agreement

After consultation with HR (via arvodister@abe.kth.se ), the next step is to prepare an employment confirmation and an agreement for the assignment.

An employment confirmation for temporary employment is equivalent to an employment contract and is required to work as hourly-payed employee. HR checks if such a confirmation exists and informs the manager. If an employment confirmation is missing, HR will prepare one with information from the HR officer/manager. The employment confirmation should then be signed by the head of department and the employee.

An agreement is made between the manager and the hourly-payed employee, specifying the content, scope, and hourly amount of the assignment. It should be done in writing via email or using a template for the agreement. Contact HR (via arvodister@abe.kth.se ) to obtain a template. An agreement can be made for a maximum of three weeks at a time, after which a new one must be prepared. The prepared agreement should be submitted to the HR officer to be attached to the upcoming payment form.

Salary and payment

The salary should follow KTH's centrally regulated hourly wage amount.

The worked hours of hourly-payed employee are reported using the form "Payment of fees/hourly wages" after completing the work.
