This course carried out on behalf of the Dean of Faculty and is financed by central funds. It is vital to take part in the entire course.

Cancellation policy
Any cancellation must be received in writing within 5 working days prior to the event. Any no-show by registered delegates will be liable for an admission fee of 800 SKR.
Target group
This course is for associate professors who are at the beginning of their careers as academic leaders.
Content and design
The course includes 3 days and consists of theory interspersed with practical exercises, discussions and reflections that give participants opportunities for sharing experiences and reflect on different leadership roles and personal preferences.
Theory is alternated with practical exercises, discussion and reflection:
• KTH organisation
• Leadership theories – an overall view
• Leading other people - Controlling or supporting creative processes - Constructive communication as boss and leader - Tools for communication and leadership: goals, agreements and feedback
• Leading a group - Group development phases - Group leadership - Developing groups into high performance teams
Aim
The course aims to:
- Provide an introduction to leadership and management.
- Create awareness of the individual's importance as a role model and leader and the importance of good leadership.
- Present a number of practical tools for communication and feedback.
- Provide knowledge about groups, processes, the development and leadership of groups.
- Give participants the opportunity to reflect on leadership and management roles and personal preferences.
- Create conditions for exchange of experience and networking.
- Stimulate interest in leadership and inspiration for continued learning.
Goals of the programme
After the course, participants will:
- At the basic level, be able to recognise and relate to theories of leadership and management, aspects of group processes and aspects of constructive communication.
- Reflect on and recognise the consequences of their own behaviour in different communication contexts.
- Be able to lead discussions by identifying the situation, assessing needs and making conscious choices.
- Be able to handle basic communication, leadership and management tools.
- Be able to formulate goals, and provide feedback to individuals and to groups.
- Be able to focus on the needs of the group and the people you manage.
- Gain opportunities for growth and success through exchange of experience and networking between different parts of KTH.
