Ongoing construction work: ventilation shaft under KTH Campus
In spring 2024, work will be conducted to establish a ventilation shaft near IVL, Swedish Environmental Research Institute. The construction site needed for the ventilation shaft, is going to be established starting from 29 April 2024. Some disturbances may occur.
What is the project about?
The project is owned and operated by Svenska kraftnät and is part of a major infrastructure investment to strengthen the electricity grid in the Stockholm region.
The ventilation shaft is needed for the operation, maintenance and ventilation of the high-voltage cables that will eventually be laid in the tunnel that is being built between Danderyd and Hammarby Sjöstad. The tunnel drilling that led to the work on the ventilation shaft passed KTH Campus before the turn of the year 2023/2024.
The establishment of the ventilation shaft between IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Sophiahemmet is starting 29 April. The work starts with fencing off the area.
Underground, blasting of a connecting tunnel between the main tunnel and the future ventilation shaft is taking place.
