Abstract
I will go through the activities I am involved in at the department of Electronic Systems, NTNU, Norway and at the Norwegian Open AI Lab. The main topic will be speech technology, covering the SCRIBE national project [1], the NordForsk Teflon project [2], the European NordTrans project [3] and the Marie Curie e-LADDA network [4]. I will also mention other other applications of machine learning including image and video processing, question answering systems, medical applications and geophysical forecasting [5].

Speaker bio
Giampiero Salvi is Professor at the Department of Electronic Systems at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway, and Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Stockholm, Sweden. Prof. Salvi received the MSc degree in Electronic Engineering from Università la Sapienza, Rome, Italy and the PhD degree in Computer Science from KTH. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Systems and Robotics, Lisbon, Portugal. His main interests are machine learning, speech technology, and cognitive systems.
