Each programme has an assigned course for degree projects that shall be used. The requirements that apply in order to start the degree project course are stated in the course syllabus.
All students receive information about the degree project at information sessions during their studies on the programme and via their programme web. General information for all students is available on the
Student web
.
Admission and registration of the degree project course
The degree project can be started in periods 3 or 4 in year 3 on the programme. The study counsellor reviews the eligibility of the students and admits those who are eligible for the degree project course.
Students register themselves for the course via Ladok. In the first week of the course, students are paired up, given the opportunity to choose a project and provided with a supervisor.
Students can start the degree project in periods 3 or 4 in year 3 on the programme. Students apply for the degree project course via antagning.se, and the eligibility is reviewed by the Admissions Office. The study counsellor reviews those who are considered unqualified to make sure that everything is correct. The students register themselves for the course via Ladok
All supervisors who wish to offer a bachelor's degree project submit project descriptions to the course leader in September. The course leader collects the project descriptions into a project selection catalogue which is presented to the students at an information meeting in October. The students choose seven possible projects from the project selection catalogue 1–15 November (the students must choose among the projects offered, they cannot come up with their own project proposals). The course leader then makes the final distribution of the projects in December.
Students can only start the degree project in period 3 in year 3. Students apply for the degree project course via antagning.se, and the eligibility is reviewed by the Admissions Office. The study counsellor reviews those who are considered unqualified to make sure that everything is correct. The students register themselves for the course via Ladok.
During the autumn, the course responsible collects proposals for degree projects from various research groups (with potential supervisors), which are presented to the students at an information meeting in December. The students then have time to think about what they want to do before the course starts. When the course begins, students submit their degree project specification to the course responsible, who, based on these, assigns supervisors and examiners. As far as possible, the course responsible tries to match the interests of the supervisors with the students' proposals.
The degree project course can be started in period 3 and period 4 in year 3 on the programme. However, students can also choose to start during the following autumn semester.
Students starts by finding a project and an examiner. If someone has problems finding an examiner, they can turn to the course responsible or coordinator for help. For questions, contact the school's office of student affairs.
In order to be admitted to the degree project course, students must fill in the required information in part 1 of the form
application for degree project
. The form shall then be sent by e-mail to the study counsellor, who reviews the eligibility for the degree project. Upon fulfilment of the eligibility requirement, the study counsellor signs the form and sends it back to the student with encouragement to contact the examiner to fill out the remaining information on the form.
The examiner fills in the information on part 2 of the form. It is important that the student is eligible (the form must be signed by the study counsellor) before the examiner signs the form. The examiner appoints a supervisor.
The student then e-mails the completed form to the study counsellor who admits the student to the degree project course. The student registers for the course via Ladok (or via a
web form on the Student web
if it is outside the web registration period).
During the degree project
During the degree project, the student, among other things, completes a thesis and a self-evaluation. The thesis and the self-evaluation shall be handed to the examiner for assessment. The student shall also participate in presentation- and opposition seminars.
Canvas
Canvas is used for information and communication with students during the course. The students automatically get access to the Canvas room when they are admitted to the course, or manually added by the respective course coordinator (for courses with a common course room).
After the the degree project
When the student has participated in presentation seminars and opposition seminars with approved results they shall submit the thesis to the examiner. The examiner checks the thesis for plagiarism, assesses the degree project and reports the grade.
Plagiarism check
Ouriginal is the tool used for plagiarism control. Information on how the tool is used can be found on the central intranet:

If a student gets the grade “F” on the degree project due to, for example, not being carried out within time constraints (one year) or lack of quality, the student must retake the course and carry out a new degree project. This new degree project must be distinct from the failed degree project. If possible, parts from the already carried out project may be reused in the new degree project, such as the literature study and research methods and methodologies. The student must, however, discuss this with the examiner.
