Join the KTH MSCA-PF for Sustainability Initiative

Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MCSA) offers funding to recruit postdoctoral fellows to your team at KTH to conduct research in any scientific domain for up to two years. EU: s deadline is 11 September 2024.

To qualify, the fellow needs to have obtained a PhD award within the last 8 years and not lived in Sweden for more than 12 months in the last three years. Read more Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) | KTH Intranet

As main contact and supervisor of the fellow, you play a key role to:

  • Identify great candidates you think will bring added value to the team.
  • Provide scientific guidance to maximize chances the proposal is awarded.
  • Ensure a great collaboration in implementing the research project.

The KTH Research Support office  (RSO) offers a program to guide international fellows and their KTH supervisors on how to write a winning proposal. You are welcome to participate in the KTH MSCA-PF for Sustainability Initiative which is a collaboration with the KTH Sustainability Office . This is how it works:

If you already have someone specific in mind

  • Contact the candidate and agree what the project should focus on (naturally both to the benefit of the fellow and the research team).
  • Sign up for the program  when you have agreed to collaborate.

If you are looking for a candidate

  • Design an attractive research position for a candidate, explain what competences are needed, the benefits of joining KTH and the team.
  • Register the offer and individual positions as Recognized Researcher at the Euraxess portal . Set the deadline to respond to 30 april.
  • Select the best candidate and jointly decide the focus of the project.
  • Sign up for the program  when you have agreed to collaborate.

Qualified support to guide the proposal process

  • RSO will arrange an online event 5 june 2024 for fellows and supervisors to outline best practice in designing the excellence, impact and implementation sections of the proposal. The Sustainability Office will inform about KTH profile to sustainable development, which is an important aspect of MCSA. Read more about the online event and register here!

The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) has established «KTH MSCA-PF for Sustainability Initiative» to recruit excellent junior researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF). We invite applications from promising junior researchers within the field of XX. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at KTH together with (title and name of KTH supervisor). This is an opportunity to accelerate your research career while living in Stockholm which is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Since its foundation in 1827, KTH has developed into one of Europe’s leading technical universities and an important arena for knowledge development. As Sweden’s largest provider of technical courses, study programmes and research, KTH brings together students, teachers and researchers from all over the world. Our education and research covers a wide range of fields, mainly in technology, natural sciences, architecture, industrial economics, social planning and learning. Special focus is placed on digitalisation, sustainability, internationalisation and gender equality, which permeate all activities at KTH.

Successful postdoc candidates and supervisors will be invited for a MSCA-PF symposium (digital event). At this event, arranged by KTH Research Support Office (RSO) in collaboration with the Sustainability Office, you and your future supervisor will learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will, jointly with the supervisor and RSO, write the MSCA-PF application by the deadline of September 11, 2024.

Eligibility criteria

Supported fellows must be in possession of a doctoral degree at the time of the call deadline. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree are also eligible to apply.

At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the amount of research experience. Recruited researchers must comply with the following mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
