By supervising an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow, you can add new knowledge to your research group and establish strong collaborations. Research advisor Mia Brandelius can help you succeed with your application.
In April, the annual call for Postdoctoral Fellowships within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) will open for applications. The call is aimed at researchers wishing to develop their skills and acquire new knowledge by carrying out their research abroad.
For KTH, the call offers an excellent opportunity to recruit promising international researchers with expertise in their field. By becoming a supervisor for an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow, you can add new knowledge and competence to your research group or project.
”When we receive new competent researchers to KTH, they disseminate their knowledge and expand their networks. This is of great value for both KTH and the supervisor as well as for the postdoctoral fellow”, says Mia Brandelius.
Mia Brandelius works as a Senior Research Advisor at the Research Support Office at KTH, and is specialised in funding through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. She has worked with international education for almost 20 years and has a legal degree with a focus on EU law.
Writing a successful application
MSCA grants are highly competitive and considered to be among the most prestigious in Europe. The success rate for applications usually varies between 10 and 16 percent, depending on the year and scientific area. Because of this, your application must be carefully thought out and prepared in order to succeed.
“A common error is that candidates focus too much on the scientific excellence part, underestimating the importance of the impact and implementation parts. To be successful, your proposal needs to demonstrate high quality regarding all evaluation criteria”, says Mia Brandelius.
The Research funding group at the Research Support Office is specialised in project-based research funding and offers support at all stages of a research project's life cycle – from idea to final reporting.
”Both supervisors and postdoctoral candidates who are interested in applying for an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship are welcome to contact me. I can help you interpret the call texts and provide feedback on how to make your application more competitive.”
