The Sustainable Transformation Seminars spring 2024 series first seminar is held by speaker Farazee Asif, KTH and Michal Krčál, Masaryk University, with the title "Digital and Circular Collaboration". It will be a special seminar, as it is combined with a presentation and a workshop.

Seminar description

The Digital and Circular Collaboration Workshop is a pioneering initiative hosted by the Digital Helix and spearheaded by the DiCiM project.

Researchers from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Masaryk University will showcase the possibilities tied to implementing digital solutions in circular manufacturing systems. Additionally, they will delve into the impactful work undertaken in the realm of DiCiM, setting the stage for the exploration of ideas and potential research and innovation projects. DiCiM is a 4-year project funded by the European Commission, aimed at enhancing digitalization of white goods, electronics and automotive industry.

We invite researchers and industry players specialising in Digital, Circular Industry, and Manufacturing to join this highly collaborative event, scheduled to take place online on 28th February, 2024, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET.

Biography of the speakers

Farazee Asif

Farazee Asif is a Docent in Circular Manufacturing Systems (CMS). He started his career in the Department of Production Engineering as an M.Sc. student in 2005. He joined the department as a faculty member in 2006 and since then he has been involved in both research and education. His research falls in the area of Circular Economy in a broader sense but deals mainly with the modelling and simulation of complex systems relevant to Circular Manufacturing Systems aimed at resource conservation. He is also involved in educational activities and currently holds the position of coordinator of the international M.Sc. programme in Production Engineering and Management. He is the course responsible and main teacher in the graduate courses, Circular Manufacturing Systems and Quality Control.

Michal Krčál

Michal Krčál is Assistant Professor at Masaryk University, in Brno, Czech Republic, at the department of Corporate Economics, faculty of Economics and Administration, where he has finished his MSc in 2011 and PhD in 2018. He is also holder of an MSc degree in applied Computer Science (2010). He is a specialist in business informatics, business process management, ICT economics and management, and methodology teaching. Michal has been giving lectures on these topics at his home university, and is a co-author of 30 scientific publications. At the workshop, he will present in detail the technical developments as part of DiCiM project, of which Masaryk University is partner and coordinator.
