Matchmaking activity: ABB meets KTH researchers
The KTH Digitalization Platform wants to enhance the exchange between KTH researchers and ABB. To this end, the platform organises matchmaking between KTH researchers in the Digitalisation domain and ABB. The exact date and implementation of the event will be decided once the platform has collected the interest from KTH researchers.
Matchmaking process
In the registration form, please provide a brief description of what area is of interest to you, how it is relevant to your research and whom you wish to meet at ABB. Please note ABB’s focus areas in which they are explicitly interested in meeting somebody from KTH. The platform will forward your answers to our ABB contacts to identify a corresponding contact and see if there is a mutual interest in exchange.

Digital Powertrain
ABB’s interest within the Digital Powertrain area covers a range of technologies such as:

Electrification
Within Electrification, ABB Corporate Research in Sweden is mainly interested in real-time solutions for electrical power management (12-72 kV) across the whole lifecycle of our products and systems. All in all, to increase reliability, reduce cost and CO2 emissions, and maintaining the maximum yield and quality for our customers. In this context, cybersecurity and different types of cyber threats and data protection issues are of interest.
Process Automation
Digitalisation and sustainability are two of the biggest drivers of change across industries today. The top three benefits of Industrial IoT for sustainability are operational efficiency, safety, and optimising energy and resource consumption. Thus, the following technology areas are of interest to ABB:
• Modeling and control - Modeling and advanced control methods for industrial processes and systems.
• Automation engineering - Novel approaches to the engineering of industrial devices and automation systems, e.g. model-based and intent-based.
• Industrial optimisation - Applied mathematical methods for the efficient design and operation of industrial systems.
Robotics
Within the robotics area, ABB Corporate Research is mainly interested in mobile manipulation. For mobile manipulation, we mean a robotic system's ability to navigate the environment and manipulate objects. Typically, the environment is not well-known in advance, and the robot needs to use perception to estimate the pose of relevant objects and to localise itself.
