Postdoc scholarship in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.

The workplace

Department of Physics, KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Project description

The project focuses mainly on exploring the fundamental nature and properties of the electron quadrupling  condensate - a newly discovered state of matter where electrons form quadruplets instead of conventional Cooper pairs. Special focus will be placed on advancing our understanding of the microscopic mechanisms underlying the fermionic quadrupling state and its observed magnetic, electronic, electronic-hydrodynamic, thermal and thermoelectric transport properties. Additionally, the project provides opportunities to explore broader topics in superconductivity, superfluidity, quantum phase transitions, quantum symmetry-breaking and topologically-ordered states, and the applications of hydrodynamics in electronic systems. This scholarship also encourages collaboration with local and international experimental groups involved in this research  project .

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in physics, preferably in theoretical condensed matter physics or related areas, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline. The candidate cannot have completed their doctoral studies at KTH.
  • Strong analytical skills are required, and proficiency in numerical methods is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants should also demonstrate independence and the ability to collaborate with others.
