Postdoctoral scholarship in hybrid control of robotic systems
KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.
The workplace
The Division of Decision and Control Systems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of KTH conducts research in networked control systems, robotics, control of communication systems, systems biology and system identification. Much of the research is conducted within EU projects, as well as within the inter-departmental centers WASP and SRA TNG. The group has also strong financial support from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Swedish Research Council.

Project description
We invite applications for a Postdoc scholarship in the field of space robotic systems. The successful candidate will join a research group that is focusing on new control methodologies for multi-robot systems. These involve a new state-of-the-art space robotics facility, which enables the development and evaluation of autonomous control and planning algorithms for multi-agent systems under simulated microgravity conditions, and several free-flyers that move frictionlessly over the epoxy floor through thruster-like propulsion using compressed air.
KTH offers an attractive working environment and generous remuneration in form of scholarship. As a postdoctoral scholar, you have many opportunities to participate at conferences, projects and other relevant events, which will extend your professional network and benefit your future career.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
Candidates should have their PhD related to at least one of the following research areas:
-
Space Systems and Robotics
-
Multi-agent control systems and Autonomy
-
Distributed control of networked systems
-
Human-in-the-loop robot control
The successful applicant should have an outstanding research and publication record.
Experience with real robotic experiments is desirable. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills are a requirement.
We are looking for a strongly motivated person, who is able to work independently, as well as within a research group.
