Ranking at KTH

In recent years international ranking lists which measure the University's excellence within research, education and collaboration have had an increasing impact in society.

The ranking lists aim to identify so-called world class universities, i.e., institutions that show excellency in research, education, collaboration, development, innovation and knowledge transferring and conduct different activities for the development of culture, science, economy and society.

More specifically, among other things, the ranking lists measures the universities' reputation, ratio between academic staff and students, citation rate and proportion of international students and researchers.

KTH is focusing on QS, THE, THE impact and ARWU - these are among the most influential ranking lists. We submit data to these lists every year, and we also monitor and analyze the results for improving ourselves. KTH are also members of different networks for ranking, both nationally and internationally.

Since 2021 the KTH Library is responsible for ranking issues. However, the work also includes collaboration with other departments at KTH like Sustainability Office, Human Resources, Finance Office, Business liaisons and the University Management Office.
