Election Regarding Faculty Members of the School’s Faculty Board

The term of office for the school’s Faculty Board’s current six teachers’ representatives expires on 31 December 2026. New members must therefore be appointed for the period 1 January 2027–31 December 2029. Voting will take place online from 23 October to 2 November 2026.

Information about the election and the voting procedure will be published on KTH’s intranet and sent out by email to those eligible to vote.

Nomination of Candidates

All employees, students and affiliated to KTH have the opportunity to nominate candidates as teachers’ representatives during the period 17 – 31 August 2026 via an Internet-based nomination form. Nominees shall have accepted the nomination.

Eligible Candidates

Eligible for election are employees with the following appointments:

  • indefinite appointment as professor, associate professor and researcher who work at least 50 per cent of full-time,

  • lecturer who works at least 50 per cent of full-time. The lecturer should have academic qualifications (hold a doctoral degree); see Chapter 2, Section 6 of the Higher Education Act

  • appointment as assistant professor who works at least 50 per cent of full-time,

  • fixed-term appointment of at least two years as teacher on the basis of artistic merits who work at least 40 per cent of full-time and whose employment extends over the entire term of office.

Any person holding an appointment or assignment in KTH’s management, in the school’s management, or on the Faculty Council may not simultaneously serve as a member of the Faculty Board.

Only those candidates who are proposed by the Election Committee or are nominated during the nomination period and have accepted the nomination, are eligible.

The Faculty Board at each school has appointed an Election Committee. The Election Committee's task is to, based on the nominations received, come up with proposals for six candidates as teachers’ representatives, one of whom is proposed as vice chairperson.

Voting Rights

The following employees are included in the voters list:

  • indefinite appointment as professor, associate professor, lecturer or researcher who work at least 50 per cent of full-time

  • appointment as assistant professor who works at least 50 per cent of full-time

  • fixed-term appointment of at least two years as teacher on the basis of artistic merits who work at least 40 per cent of full-time.

The voters list for KTH will be established by the president during September 2026, after review of each school.

Presentation of Candidates

The Election Committee’s proposal and other valid nominations received will be publicized no later than 9 October 2026 on the KTH intranet. Information will also be sent to those with voting rights by email, no later than 16 October 2026.

Equality Between Women and Men

According to the Higher Education Act chapter 1 section 5 equality between women and men shall always be considered and promoted in the operations of higher education institutions.

The Conduct of the Election

On October 23, 2026, eligible voters will receive an email containing a link to vote in the election, information about how the election will be conducted, and a list of the nominated candidates to choose from.

Voting is done electronically by ticking any number of names or casting a blank vote. A valid vote must include at least one name.

Voting will be possible during the period 23 October–2 November 2026. It is only possible to vote for the persons who have been nominated. Each name on the electronic ballot has equal value, regardless of position.

Election Result

The six candidates who receive the most votes are appointed as members of the Faculty Board. The President confirms the election results.

The decision must state whether the election result gave an equal number of votes and how it has then been handled.

The President’s decision on determining the election results must be posted on KTH's intranet for three weeks.

The election cannot be declared invalid due to low turnout.
