The government investment in mathematics – Maths 2025
The project involves pedagogical development of mathematics courses in engineering, in accordance with the investment by the Swedish Council for Higher Education. This includes various mathematics teaching and learning components, as well as the dissemination of lessons learned to other universities.
Project context
The Swedish Council for Universities and Higher Education (UHR) is making an investment in the development of higher education pedagogical methods in engineering education. The measures are primarily intended to increase the quality of mathematics courses, and the instructions from UHR state that lessons learned from the development are to be disseminated to other higher education institutions. The programme management for Future Education has met the heads of SCI Mathematics and ITM Learning on several occasions during the autumn of 2024 to discuss possible activities and projects. After internal discussions at each department, a number of concrete proposals have been received for activities and projects that the programme management for Future Education and the heads of SCI Mathematics and ITM Learning have jointly agreed to implement in 2025.
Purpose (outcome)
The purpose of the project is the pedagogical development of mathematics courses in engineering and thereby to respond to the government's investment in mathematics in 2025.
