Current Projects and Initiatives

Mission

FuSam was established in January 2024 by decision of the University Director. The mission is to create and manage a unified entry point and coordinated handling of administrative doctoral education issues at KTH. FuSam's mission also includes driving the development of doctoral education issues to ensure appropriate and consistent handling and joint decisions.

Target Groups

FuSam's primarily targets employees at KTH who work with administrative doctoral education issues. Doctoral students should contact their supervisor or their education office.

The organization aims to create a qualitative and legally secure handling of administrative doctoral education issues that benefits the organization generally, but doctoral students in particular.

Vision

FuSam's vision is that the administrative support for KTH's doctoral education is legally secure, clear, and coordinated.

FuSam strives to improve and harmonize support for doctoral students and faculty at KTH. The vision is to offer equivalent, accessible, and legally secure support to them while simultaneously raising the quality of doctoral education. We aim to create a better working environment for doctoral students, administrators, and supervisors and facilitate the implementation of doctoral education for doctoral students during their time with us at KTH.

What Enables the Vision:

By coordinating administrative processes and promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing between different roles, we can increase legal security, accessibility, and the quality of support while broadening competence.

By listening to the needs of our doctoral students, supervisors, and administrators, we can provide more relevant and adequate support.

Organization of Doctoral Education Coordination

FuSam consists of:

  • A coordination group with administrators from each school. The group is led by coordinators from the Management Office (MO) and Education Support (EDO) and works operationally in developing support processes, close to the school's operations.

  • The advisory expert group is led by MO, which also provides legal expertise. The group also includes representation from HR, the Education Administrative Manager at the school, and Education Support (EDO). The group monitors and drives issues at an overall tactical and strategic level and can also develop guiding practices, routines, or policy documents. The group is FuSam's contact point with decision-making and preparatory bodies such as the Doctoral Education Committee.
