User manual for the function "The page Before course selection"

At the page Before course selection an image and a descriptive text for the course is shown. With the help of the About course administration tool, and the function "The page Before course selection", the course coordinator and examiner can edit this information. The heading Course disposition as well as Supplementary information. can be edited using the same function. Detailed instructions on how to use the function are provided here.

Log in to the administration tool

You log in to the About course administration tool by searching for your course via the course and programme directory: Search course  or via a link in your personal menu. Click on the link "Administer About course". Klick on Edit button under the function "Course introduction". 

1. Choose which details you want to edit

After clicking "Edit," you will be directed to a page where you can select whether you want to edit the image, course description, and course disposition, or if you want to edit supplementary information. If you choose to edit the image, course description, and course disposition, start by selecting an image.

2. Choose image

You can either use the default image based on the course main field of study or an image of your own. Click "Choose your own image" and "Choose image". The image you select will be displayed in the format 400x300 pixels. Smaller images will be scaled up to fit the format. The image must be in PNG or JPG file format.

The image should be decorative and relate to the subject of the course, but in order for the image to meet the requirements for accessibility, the image must not carry information.

If you don't have your own image, here you can find images that is used for freestanding courses (OneDrive).  All images are free to use.

After your own image has been selected, an information text about rights to use the image is displayed, please read and tick the check box.

3. Edit the introductory text and course dispsition

Click on "Edit text." You will then be directed to a page where four text fields are displayed: Introduction to the course (Swedish), Introduction to the course (English), Course dispostion (Swedish), and Course disposition (English). Click on the icon that looks like a pen next to the text field you want to edit. Briefly describe the course content under "Introduction to the course" and provide an overview of the teaching structure under "Course disposition." The introductory text should not be longer than 2-3 sentences.

The texts should always be in Swedish, but also in English for courses taught in English. Above the text fields, there are formatting options such as italic text, bullet points, etc.

4. Preview and publish your text and image

Click the "Preview" button to see how the text and image will appear before publishing. The "Cancel" button takes you back to the tool's home page. The "Edit text" button takes you back to the previous step.

Then click the "Publish" button to publish your text and selected image. After publishing, you will be redirected to the home page of the administration tool, and a green information message confirming that the Page Before Course Selection has been published. 

5. Edit, preview and publish supplementary information

If, instead, you choose to edit supplementary information, you will be directed to a page displaying two fields: Supplementary information (Swedish) and Supplementary information (English). Here, you input additional information that may be important for the student to know.

Click the "Preview" button to preview how the text will appear before publishing. The "Cancel" button takes you back to the tool's home page. The "Edit text" button takes you back to the previous step.

Then click the "Publish" button to publish your text. After publishing, you will be redirected to the home page of the administration tool, and a green information message confirming that the Page Before Course Selection has been published.
