BepiColombo, an Interdisciplinary Mission to Mercury, is the first joint large-scale planetary exploration project by ESA and JAXA involving scientists from many countries in Europe and Japan. The BepiColombo mission is composed of two orbiters: the Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) and the Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (MMO). Observations of various aspects of the planet, such as the space environment, the magnetic field, the surface composition, and the geology, are expected to lead to a synthetic view of the mysterious planet Mercury. The BepiColombo Science Working Team (SWT) monitors the project progress and makes recommendations to the project team on all scientific matters related to the mission.
