Seminar on average and marginal CO2eq emission factors

Welcome to a seminar about marginal and average CO2-eq emissions related to electricity and district heating applications arranged by Energy Technology.

Time: Fri 2021-02-05 12.30 - 16.00

Location: Zoom

Participating: Energy Technology

The event will be a two part event. The first part will consist of a collection of presentations from several persons involved in the topic:

12:30-12:40:Johan will introduce the reason of this meeting and why it is important to us at EGI;

12:40-13:05: Lennart Söder , professor at the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems here at KTH will present the topic from the power grid point of view;

13:05-13:30: Erik Dotzauer , from Stockholm Exergi will this time take the district heating point of view;

13:30-13:55: John Clauß , author of this interesting article  will talk about the methodology used to determine average emission factors for power grid;

13:55-14:20: Finally one person from the company Tomorrow  (behind the electricity map ) will answer questions about the methodology they use to produce their data  (especially their marginal emissions).

In a second part, after a little break, we will have a more open discussion gravitating around several topics:

14:30-15:15: How reliable/useful are those two approaches? What are the underlying assumptions associated with those methods?

15:15-16:00: When should we use one or the other? Which type of context is best suited for each one?

At the end of each topic you will have the opportunity to ask questions to our guest speakers.
