The school’s tasks

When a teacher applies for promotion, the school is to assist the Employment Board by submitting a statement about the applicant and by proposing two expert evaluators to review the applicant’s scientific and pedagogical qualifications. The school submits the application, the school's statement and the suggestion of expert evaluators to the Employment Board, through KTH's recruitment system, before the end of the application period.

The school's proposals for experts

Please note that only those who have not previously assessed one and the same applicant in another promotion case may normally be suggested as expert evaluators. For example: If a person was involved in assessing the applicant during promotion from assistant professor to associate professor, he or she may not participate in assessing the same applicant for promotion from associate professor to professor. In addition, at least one of the suggetsed expert evaluators is required to be new to the candidate and thus should not have been an expert evaluator at the appointment of the candidate's current or previous employment at KTH. Also previous assignments at other universities where the proposed expert evaluator has assessed the applicant should be presented in the proposal, so that it becomes known and can be taken into account in the assessment of the expert proposal.

The school's proposals for experts should include the following:

  • Names of two persons, one male and one female, who should not be working at the same higher education institution or other organisation and who are higher qualified than the applicant. If a female expert evaluator cannot be proposed, the school is required to account for the steps that has been taken to find one, listing the names of the women who have been contacted and stating why they have declined. Persons employed at KTH can not be suggested as expert evaluators.
  • Documentation showing that the proposed individuals are willing to undertake the task and that there are no conflict of interests.
  • CV describing the scientific qualifications and experiences as well as the pedagogical qualifications and experiences of teaching of the person suggested as expert evaluator, especially regarding development of couses and of supervision.

The school should clearly inform the persons suggested that it is the Employment Board that appoints the expert evaluators and that they will be notified when they have been appointed. When the school is approaching potential experts the following templates can be used:

The proposal of experts including certificates that there is no conflict of interest, publication lists and CVs, are uploaded by the school in KTH's e-recruitment system during the relevant application period.

Schools should preferably use the following templates:

Remuneration

For the assignment the expert receives a remuneration of SEK 6.000. The remuneration is paid when the Promotion Board has met and submitted its proposal on a decision in the case.
