Mikael on the external inquiry

Published May 19, 2022

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the university board's decision to appoint an external inquiry and CBH's strategy day.

Internal criticism has emerged of the process regarding the procedure for offering a professorship that took place at KTH in March this year. Several letters on the matter have been sent to the University Board, including a request for an opinion from the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ). The chairman of the university board therefore convened the university board for an extra meeting on 16 May.

At the meeting, the University Board decided to appoint an external investigator of the matter, who will report at the next ordinary Board meeting on 17 June. This inquiry will also serve as a basis for the Board's opinion to UKÄ.

On Wednesday 18 May, CBH's management conducted a strategy day focusing on both RAE 2021 and a strategic in-depth study of scientific publications. The school's RAE results show, among other things, our research's high degree of societal relevance and impact, as well as the opportunity to contribute to sustainable societal development. The discussions during the day will result in an action plan for the CBH School, which will be presented to the president on 30 September. Before that, we have time to anchor the work at the institutions and complete it during our annual strategy day in August.
