Mikael about the quality dialogue at CBH

Published May 12, 2022

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the annual quality dialogue at the CBH School.

On Monday, the CBH School conducted the annual quality dialogue, which is part of the continuous quality follow-up. From CBH, Head of School Mikael Lindström, FFA Amelie Eriksson Karlström, FA Christina Divne, GA Mats Nilsson, administrative manager Marie Larsson, student representatives and doctoral student representative Philip Jansson participated. From the Faculty Council, Dean Anders Forsgren and Vice Dean Sofia Ritzén participated along with GVS quality coordinators Inger Wikström Öbrand and Åsa Rurling.

The dialogue was structured on the basis of four areas: first-, second- and third-cycle level education, the school's process description for follow-up of RAE and faculty renewal and faculty development. Under undergraduate and advanced level education, the vice dean addressed the issue of student influence, ways to increase student engagement and what different forms of course evaluations that teachers can apply. We also discussed how we work with active learning, i.e. the level of maturity in the current situation, and how future education can be received by teachers.

Concerning third-cycle education, the vice dean mentioned that the CBH School has several mechanisms in place that are positive to ensure a good study and work environment. One question is how shortcomings in environments are identified and how the division of responsibilities takes place when shortcomings have been identified. Here, FA and HR work intensively with relevant supervisors and managers and we have come a long way.

Furthermore, the dean raised his views on the process description for follow-up of RAE, where we at the CBH School have chosen an operational-related process where each department works with proposals for action plans via the management groups and responsible research leaders. We discuss this further during CBH's strategy day on 18 May.

Finally, the dean presented his analysis of the CBH School's faculty renewal and faculty development, where we conducted an analysis of the current situation regarding teachers and researchers, promotions, planned new recruitments of teachers and researchers as well as leadership training, higher education and competence development.

Many thanks to our FA, GA and FFA (and everyone who contributes to these functions) for all the reports you produce in a very good process. What we still need to do is ensure that quality work and dialogue become a natural part of our daily operations.
