Amelie on the campus review

Published Sep 06, 2023

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the ongoing campus review and what it means for the CBH School.

It is already September and at the end of this month, the in-depth investigation of the ongoing campus review will be presented. This investigation started due to the high premises costs and the need to review the finances at KTH, but it has subsequently become clear that changes are also important to ensure high quality and create good conditions for the long-term development of KTH's research and education. There is currently a detailed mapping of available premises and an investigation into what effect a possible move of operations from Södertälje and Kista would have on scheduling, finances, student recruitment, etc. For the CBH School, it may mean that there will be a larger volume of base year education in Flemingsberg than today, if education places are moved from Södertälje.

In parallel with the campus review, work has been carried out to introduce a unit rent for KTH's premises on all campuses (except SciLifeLab in Solna) at the turn of the year. All operations will have to take their share of the premises costs, which have greatly increased in recent years. At the CBH School, I know that it looks different in different institutions, but in some places, it is possible to share labs or offices to a greater extent than today. In any case, during the autumn we will have to review how we can use our premises in the best way.
