Amelie about the dialogue with KTH's management

Published Mar 29, 2023

Head of school Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about two upcoming reports on the RAE evaluation and faculty renewal and faculty development at the CBH School.

This week, the CBH School management are working with two reports to be sent in before the spring dialogue with KTH's management. One report is about the RAE evaluation of KTH's research ("Research Assessment Exercise"), which was carried out in 2020-2021 and resulted in an action plan, which we must now followed up on. A question raised by several evaluation panels was how we could strengthen research collaboration between the school's departments. Several exciting things have happened here in the past year; new seminar series have been started with participants across departmental boundaries and new collaborations around center formations and shared infrastructure.

The second report deals with faculty renewal and faculty development, where we report on the current situation and reflect on planned recruitments, promotions and development. Here, too, we believe that increased collaboration between the institutions is important and provides opportunities for better utilization of the school's resources for education and research. In several subject areas, we have expected retirements, and before future recruitments we need to review the teaching needs and try to match them with investments in strategic research areas.

I also want to take the opportunity to tell you that the President and Deputy President of KTH will visit our campus in Flemingsberg on Friday at 10:30. As part of the President's decision on measures for a balanced economy, the Deputy President has conducted an investigation of the activities on KTH's campus areas. At the meeting on Friday, they will present the investigation and answer questions. Warm welcome!
