Amelie on the conferment ceremony

Published Dec 03, 2025

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the conferment ceremony, where 50 new doctors from the CBH school were awarded.

Two weeks ago, it was time for KTH's conferment ceremony, where the past year’s newly graduated doctors were celebrated with a formal ceremony in the Blue Hall, followed by a festive banquet in the Golden Hall at Stockholm City Hall. This year was especially enjoyable, as our own Professor Eva Malmström Jonsson had been chosen to serve as the promotor at the ceremony.

As Head of School, I had the honour of reading out the names of the CBH School’s new doctors, and this year as many as 50 new doctors from the school’s various doctoral subject areas had chosen to take part in the conferment.

In addition to the newly graduated doctors, a number of jubilee doctors – those who defended their theses and were conferred their degrees 50 years ago – were also celebrated. Several of this year’s jubilee doctors held doctorates in chemistry-related fields.

The doctoral conferment is a wonderful occasion to recognise all the hard work undertaken by the new doctors and their supervisors, and to celebrate that their efforts have resulted in a doctoral degree. It is an achievement truly worthy of celebration, and it is delightful that so many choose to participate in the ceremony.

Warm congratulations to all jubilee doctors and newly graduated doctors!
