Amelie on a study trip to DTU in Denmark and Lund University

CBH's Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström about the study trip to DTU in denmark and Lund University.

Last week, KTH's management team was on a study trip and had time to visit both DTU in Denmark and Lund University. We started on Sunday and took the train to Copenhagen, where we arrived in the evening. On Monday, we had a packed schedule at DTU, where we got to meet the university's management and see different parts of their campus.

It was interesting to compare our institutions and we realised that there are many similarities between DTU and KTH - for example, we are about the same size and have similar activities. One thing that I found interesting and that I didn't know before was that all engineering programmes at DTU have compulsory courses in chemistry and biotechnology, which was considered important to create a good foundation for subsequent teaching in sustainable development. I think this is something we could be inspired by at KTH!

On Monday evening we took the train back to Sweden, where we were treated to a nice dinner by the management of Lund University. The next day we visited different parts of the university and learnt about how they work with gender equality issues, student recruitment and resource allocation. The visit ended at MAX IV, which I thought was one of the highlights of the trip as I had never been there before. It was great to see this impressive facility, which I know is used by several of our colleagues at the CBH School and is valuable for their research.
