When Rose-Marie Hammar decides to step down, Christina Persson will take over as programme Director at the Foundation year programme on campus together with Anders Clenander. Christina – the door sign says Cia – is looking forward to sharing the responsibility with Anders, who will retain his previous role.

Christina Persson

Christina Persson grew up in Borlänge. She studied Mechanical Engineering in Lund and then stayed on and started up two training programmes. After that, she moved back to Borlänge and wrote a licentiate thesis in materials science at Uppsala University.

In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and playing tennis. She enjoys cycling to work and playing board games with her family and friends.

Christina Persson has worked at KTH since 1995. She started as a teacher and then Head of education in Södertälje, with responsibility for the foundation year programme in Södertälje and Tumba, where KTH had campuses. When Södertörn University started up in Flemingsberg, they contacted KTH for help in starting up a basic science year and Christina was one of those who participated in that work.

For many years she then worked as a teacher at the 3-year engineering programme in Mechanical Engineering in Kista, but in 2002 she started teaching physics in the foundation year and has continued to do so ever since.

“When I started working with the foundation year in Södertälje, it looked different than it does today. The students decided in advance whether they would continue on to a 3-year engineering programme or a 5-year engineering programme and chose a specialisation based on that.”

Passionate about teaching

She has been working at KTH Campus since 2011 and enjoys it very much. Today she teaches physics in the foundation year and has a course in sustainable development in the 3-year engineering programme in Chemical Engineering. Teaching is something she is really passionate about.

“I really enjpoy being a teacher! For example, when they start their first term, they find unit conversion very difficult. And then suddenly they understand how to do it! It's great to be part of that journey and see them go on to other studies at KTH.”

Looking forward to the new role

Christina is looking forward to starting work with Anders Clenander. She will be working with, among other things, schedule management and programme analysis, but she does not know yet exactly what her role will be.

“It's all so new, still. But I'm really looking forward to it. It's always fun to take on new things. In 2022, I completed the Future leaders for strategic educational development programme here at KTH, and now I thought it was time to put it to use.”
