Amelie Eriksson Karlström, Head of School, wishes all staff at CBH School a wonderful summer, whatever the weather.

The school year is now over, and many employees are heading for a well-deserved holiday. The last few weeks have been intense with many meetings, end of term celebrations, dissertations, exams and degree projects presentations.

Before the summer holidays begin, I would like to take the opportunity to briefly reflect on the academic year. There is a lot of development work going on at KTH, which has also kept us at the CBH School busy. One important issue is the review of the career system, where a report was presented last autumn. The proposals in the report have since been discussed at the schools and from the CBH school we submitted a joint consultation response from the management group and faculty board, where the school's college had also submitted comments via a survey. In summary, the CBH School thought that several of the proposals in the report were good, such as the introduction of new employment categories for research infrastructure specialists, while we were sceptical about other proposals, such as the introduction of a new employment category as senior lecturer without the right to examination for promotion. However, a major issue in this context is what the basic funding for faculty positions should look like in the future, and until a review of the resource allocation system is completed, it is difficult to take a position on issues relating to the dimensioning of the faculty. Work on both the career system and the resource allocation system will continue in the autumn.

Another topical issue is the development of KTH's educational programmes and the dimensioning of education at different levels. In recent years, the CBH School has developed two new master's programmes in data-driven health and molecular biotechnology and bioinformatics, which will start in HT25 and HT26 respectively. We see great future potential in these subject areas and it will be exciting to see how they are received by students! This autumn, the KTH-wide review of the educational offering will continue, and I hope that the CBH School can continue to develop its programmes so that they both utilise our strengths in research and can meet the needs of society.

The CBH News is now taking a summer break and will be back again in August. I hope you all have a great midsummer weekend – hopefully without too much rain! – and a really nice summer, whether you stay in Sweden or go abroad. It will be fun to see you again in the autumn and continue working on all the important things that are going on at the CBH school and KTH!
